As Jesus was about to ascend into heaven, he let us know that
we were here to build his church and promote his kingdom—to
make something out of what he had done for us. He made it
clear that his purpose in coming was the same as the purpose
he was giving us.
Convinced of that high calling—convinced that God has
appointed us and equipped us to do that building and seeking
here in Wheaton, Illinois—our church—after much
prayerful consideration—has decided that doing some
building on our physical space will greatly assist us in building
our church for the Lord. We are “Building on Purpose.”

Problem One:
At the end of each service, more than 200 people attempt to
occupy a lobby that is not much bigger than a living room.
The noise and the crowded conditions preempt most efforts
at meaningful conversations.
Solution: The dramatically
enlarged lobby will allow for socializing and welcoming of
visitors.
Problem Two:
Looking at the front entrance of the church there is nothing
that is inviting or welcoming.
Solution: The new entrance
will be intuitive and suggest the kind of warmth that awaits
inside and projects Christ’s open arms to the neighborhood.
Problem Three:
Access to the church by those with limited mobility is a serious
problem, both for those in the congregation and for the neighbors
who use the building for voting.
Solution: Barriers will be removed and an elevator
will be installed to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers.
Problem Four:
The house next door is gradually deteriorating in both appearance
and utility while the rest of the neighborhood is undergoing
dramatic renovation.
Solution: Replace the house with a new ministry
center that complements the neighborhood while substantially
upgrading the uses that the building can accommodate.
